On the Road with the Continuity Team It is held by many people around the world that July and August are the ‘slow’ months of the year, perhaps because of the summer heat. They have been anything but slow for the Continuity team members. Retreats have been given by a Miles Jesu team (Sean, Eric et. al) throughout Ireland over the last month or so and God has blessed these efforts with several more vocations to Miles Jesu. There have been trips to the Faith Summer Session where our members met with many young men and women and invited them to the tenth annual Path to Rome conference this year in London. We are letting as many of them as possible know that there is a special price for young adults. If you know some young men and women who could be inspired by the testimonies of well-known converts and leaders in the Church, please contact the Continuity national office in London. The contact information is provided on the back page of the Journal. Georg, a young man from Austria, is with us again this summer to improve his English and his spiritual life by living in community. He is enthusiastic and a great help to us in our work. Three of our young men attended an evening meeting of young adults and gave a presentation, “Yes, the Church is Alive!” based on the words of Pope Benedict XVI, meant to encourage and inspire the young men and women to come to the Path to Rome conference and eventually become more involved in evangelizing others through the Continuity Movement. A group of young men also went to Walsingham for a large conference at the beginning of August to promote the new Miles Jesu vocation DVD (which can be ordered free for your favourite young person at www.vocationinfo.com) as well as promoting the Path to Rome conference. Several members are at daily Masses in the area of the Path to Rome conference throughout the week to encourage more registrations and the effort is paying off. Calls for information and registrations are picking up as of the beginning of August. It’s not too late to register – so do it soon! Olek Hrabets, Nicholas Shchehel and Steve Milton were at the Eucharistic Congress in Birmingham at the end of July and were impressed with the turnout. They were given a table to promote the Continuity Movement, the Path to Rome conference and Miles Jesu. Meanwhile, Tom Creen and I have been in Chicago taking care of some important matters, not least of which is moving the cause of Paul Murphy forward. I’ve been able to make contact with childhood and high school friends of Paul’s and hope to expand the book ‘Paul Murphy – A Man To Move Hearts’ written with Joanna Bogle, in time for the November Path to Rome conference in London. I’ve also had some MRI’s done and a CAT scan, together with blood tests and X-rays to try and clear up some medical mysteries about my creaky old bones, so I’m grateful for all of the prayers flooding out to me from England. I’ll let everyone know how the results turn out. Tom Creen has been a wonderfully patient brother driving me from one hospital to another, sitting in one waiting room and another. May God reward him richly. We both look forward to being back in England as soon as God allows. Deo Gratias! |
