Prayer for Ireland

Oh God, whose love is infinite and whose mercy is above all thy works, hearken to our prayers for our dear Ireland.  Pour down upon her, we beseech Thee, the abundance of Thy blessings, and comfort her with the gladness of Thy divine consolations. With humble and contrite hearts we confess that we have sinned before Thee.  We have not always been true to the glorious example of our beloved saints.

But Confident in Thy aid, and trusting in Thy mercy, we promise henceforth to strive, as far as in us lies, to restore the ancient glories of our faith, to deepen our devotion to Mary, our blessed Mother, and to make the virtue of purity, the traditional glory of our race, shine with ever brightening-splendour throughout our land. To this end may we serve Thee, O God, with fear, and rejoice before Thee with trembling. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
